Meaningful activity

We want people to live meaningful lives, whether they live at home independently, with support or in a care home. Sometimes however people need some support to maintain meaningful activity.

Find out what interests those you work with. You can then use the ideas for activities resources from Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).

If you want to know more about the benefits of engaging those you work with in meaningful activity, visit the living well through activity in care homes toolkit which tells you about the benefits as well as signposting you to ideas.

There are also useful resources on connecting people, connecting support where you can find activities that are particularly focused for those with dementia.

The benefit of many of these activities is that people move, which in turn helps them maintain activity levels which provide many benefits for them.
