Single Points Of Access (SPOA) for community health services
On this page
Single points of access in each district in the Highland HSCP area for integrated teams within community health services.
How might the SPOA help me or someone I care for?
The SPOA is for people who have been to the emergency department and don’t need to stay in hospital, but do need other support. The SPOA team are able to find out what support there might be. This could be:
- care at home
- care homes
- day care
- social work
- adult support and protection (see other specific reporting contacts there)
- community occupational therapy
- community physiotherapy
- community mental health
- district nursing
- drug and alcohol services
When is the SPOA available?
SPOA teams are available Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm (except Sutherland, where the team is available between 8am and 4pm).
For emergencies outwith these times, please contact the Emergency Social Work Service:
phone 0808 175 3646
Please note that this number is not for routine enquiries but social work emergencies between 5pm and 9am only.
