Understanding my results
Understanding your results and what happens next.
When will I get my results?
You will be told your results straight away at your appointment.
The person who does your scan will explain what your results mean.

What will my results show?
There are 4 possible results:
- No aneurysm
- Small aneurysm
- Medium aneurysm
- Large aneurysm

No aneurysm
No aneurysm found
If no aneurysm is found, this means you will not need any treatment or further check ups.

Small aneurysm
Small aneurysm found
A small aneurysm is not usually serious.

What happens next?
It should be checked once a year to see if it has grown.
You will be sent a letter with your next screening appointment.

Medium aneurysm
Medium aneurysm found
A medium aneurysm can be serious.

What happens next?
It should be checked every 3 months to see if it has grown. You will be sent a letter with your next screening appointment.

Large aneurysm
Large aneurysm found
You will need to see a special doctor if you have a large aneurysm.
You will be sent a letter with an appointment.

What happens next?
The specialist will ask you about your health.
They will look at your tummy which is also called your 'abdomen'.
You may get more tests or an x-ray.

The specialist will explain what treatment will be best for you and explain any risks.
