An alphabetical list of words used in AAA screening, with explanations.

  • Aneurysms: Bulges in blood vessels.
  • AAA: This stands for Abdominal aortic aneurysm.
  • Aorta: The main artery that carries blood away from your heart to the rest of your body.
  • Artery: The blood vessels that deliver oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the tissues of the body.
  • High Cholesterol: High cholesterol is when you have too much of a fatty substance called cholesterol in your blood.
  • Ultrasound Scan: An ultrasound scan is a quick and painless test. The scan takes picture of the inside of your body using sound waves.
