Screening aims to identify people who are at risk of having a particular disease or medical condition before they show any sign of having it.

What is screening?

Screening aims to identify people who are at risk of having a particular disease or medical condition before they show any sign of having it.

They can then be offered:

  • information
  • further tests
  • appropriate treatment to reduce their risk and/or any complications arising from the disease or condition
