Scottish Improvement Leader (ScIL) course

Recruiting now. Applications are invited from individuals working across NHS Highland supporting Health and Social Care and the Excellence in Care agenda. The shortlisting is based on local strategic priorities. ​Applications are open now and close Friday 30th August.

The Scottish Improvement Leader programme 2.0 (ScIL) has been designed for those in a role with significant focus on quality improvement to develop individuals to design, develop & lead improvement initiatives. You should have influence over a team's work plan to do this course.​ Below you will see the programme delivery & content you will be committing to.

NHSH is allocated 3 places for ScIL Cohort 50 (2 health and social care places and 1 Excellence in care place). Please indicate which place you are applying for. ​

​​Important notes for the application process:

Prior to submitting your application, you must approach colleagues to support you. Please inform them that they will receive an MS Form from NES once you submit your application

  • Approach your line manager for support
  • Identify an organisational mentor (someone who can remove barriers for you and give you strategic context) n.b. this is not a QI mentor - if you receive a place, you will be allocated your QI mentor.
  • Identify your executive level sponsor (more information below)

​​Two weeks prior to closing date (11th August)

  • ​Complete and submit your application (complete in a Word document first, cut and paste answers in to the Form once ready (please note the Form can't be saved).
  • Check in with your line manager, organisational mentor and executive level sponsor to alert them to expect an email to support your application

One week prior to closing date (18th August)

  • Ensure line manager, organisational sponsor and executive level sponsor have responded to the email from NES (late submissions will not be accepted)

Who is the Scottish Improvement Leader Programme for?

ScIL is designed for professionals within Scottish public services who are passionate about driving quality improvement initiatives and contributing to creating conditions for continuous improvement in their organisations.

Regardless of your specific role, ScIL equips its participants with the knowledge, tools, and skills needed to apply quality improvement methodologies, lead change initiatives, leverage data for informed decision-making, and create a collaborative environment that promotes continuous improvement.
