The Mid Argyll Visual Impairment Social Group will host a Christmas gathering on Monday 9 December at 2pm in the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Centre, Lochgilphead.
Eilidh and Sarah from the Sensory Impairment team will be present, showcasing equipment designed for individuals with sight and hearing loss. Eilidh will also bring simulation glasses, so feel free to invite your family to experience what living with sight loss feels like.
Individuals experiencing visual and auditory impairments often encounter substantial obstacles in their daily lives, impacting activities such as reading, communication, and navigation within public environments. By engaging with and observing the challenges faced by individuals with sensory impairments, attendees can develop a heightened awareness of their needs and the barriers they encounter.
This community event can help facilitate the sharing of resources and strategies aimed at enhancing inclusivity. Through collaborative efforts, together we can help sensory-impaired community members be more recognised, supported, and valued, thereby promoting a more equitable society for individuals with sensory disabilities.
Eilidh FitzPatrick, Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) Rehabilitation Officer for the Visually Impaired said: "I strongly encourage individuals, including loved ones and unpaid carers, to attend the event designed to educate attendees about the support and services available for individuals with sight or hearing loss. Even participation for the purpose of obtaining advice can be extremely beneficial."
Join us for an afternoon filled with festive cheer, refreshments, and the opportunity to connect with others in the community. There will also be engaging activities for everyone to experience. This gathering is an opportunity to learn and understand more about the challenges faced by those with sensory impairments.
