Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is pleased to announce that following an extensive procurement process the General Medical Service contract and Out of Hours contract for the GP practice on the Isle of Colonsay has been awarded.
Dr Clive Mast will take over the running of the Practice from 1 April 2025.
Fiona Duff, Interim Head of Primary Care for Argyll and Bute HSCP, said:“We are absolutely delighted that after a robust procurement process, which included the involvement of community representatives from the island, we have been able to offer the General Medical Services contract and Out of Hours contract to Dr Clive Mast. Awarding the contract to Dr Mast ensures that we continue to have a high quality health professional who will provide a safe, resilient and sustainable service to the local communities served by the GP Practice on Colonsay.
“I would also like to thank the previous GP Dr Simon Willetts, who recently retired, for his commitment and hard work in delivering GP services for the communities served by the Practice.”
Dr Clive Mast said: “I am originally from South Africa, where I did my training, and my working career has included South Africa, New Zealand, and the UK for the past 22 years (of which the past 11 years have been in Dunoon). I am excited to be moving to Colonsay and to be providing the primary care needs for the island."
GP services on the island will continue to be delivered by locums until the new arrangements come into place on 1 April 2025.
The Colonsay practice includes the islands of Colonsay and Oronsay, which lie west of mainland Argyll to the west of the Island of Jura. The islands are 10 miles long and the surgery is located in Scalasaig, which is one of the two main centres of population, the other being Kilchattan.
