Update on repeat prescriptions at Ballachulish Medical Practice

11th September 2024

NHS Highland is working in partnership with Ballachulish Medical Practice and local community pharmacies to support the supply and issue of repeat prescriptions over the next few months.

Ballachulish Medical Practice will be experiencing some staff changes in the near future, and it is important for the Practice to maintain a continued safe and efficient service for the dispensing of medicines.

We are working closely with partners to manage this process and ensure there is minimal disruption to patients.

Following medication requests made to the Practice, arrangements will be made for prescriptions to be generated, signed by the doctor and collected by one of the local pharmacies from the list below.

The two local pharmacies offering this service are:

• Mhor Health Pharmacy, Spean Bridge

• Well Pharmacy, High Street, Fort William

The medicines will be dispensed and returned to the Practice where they will be kept, ready for patients to collect from the Practice, as per current arrangements.

The practice team ask for seven days from request to pick up. Going forward we would ask that you request regular medicines at least seven days in advance.

Any medications required on the day of your appointment will continue to be dispensed by the Practice.

Thomas Ross, NHS Highland’s Associate Director of Pharmacy, said: “We have written to patients to keep them updated about this change. We ask that patients complete and return the form included in the letter to let us know about their preferred choice of pharmacy from the list above.

“If preferred, rather than having medication dispensed in this way, patients can collect their paper prescription from the Practice and take this to a pharmacy of their choice.

“The letter also highlights how patients can order repeat prescriptions through the online Patient Access service. This new arrangement started earlier this week, and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”
