Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is pleased to announce that the NHS Scotland mobile breast screening unit will be returning to the Islay, Campbeltown and Oban areas.
The mobile unit previously visited these areas earlier this year and is now returning to screen individuals it was unable to screen during its initial visit.
Eligible women for breast screening will receive a postal invitation detailing the date and location of their appointment, or if they missed their last invitation three years ago, they will get a letter encouraging them to schedule an appointment. The mobile screening unit will be available in the following areas on these dates in 2024:
- Islay - 18 and 19 September
- Campbeltown - 23 September to 4 October
- Oban - 7 to 18 October
The service aims to ensure that all women, regardless of their location, have the opportunity to receive breast screening services. Regular screening is important for the early detection of breast cancer, which significantly improves the chances of successful treatment. Women who are invited to attend the mobile unit can expect a comfortable and supportive environment where their health concerns are addressed with respect and confidentiality.
If you wish to change your current appointment or to arrange one, please contact the West of Scotland Breast Screening Service who will try to accommodate your request:
- phone 0141 800 8800
- email ggc.wosbs@nhs.scot
The NHS offers breast screening to find breast cancers at an early stage when they're too small to see or feel. Find out more about breast screening at NHS inform.
