Campbeltown, Oban and Lochgilphead Hospitals need volunteers

Volunteering Argyll And Bute Hospitals Barbara, Argyll and Bute HSCP Ward Volunteer her role includes managing the tea and coffee rounds and patient companionship.

Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is recruiting volunteers to support hospital inpatients and provide transport for patients to appointments. Volunteers play a vital role in improving the care experience for patients, ensuring they feel supported and valued during their hospital stay and attending appointments. Whether you have a few hours to spare or can commit to regular volunteering, your contributions will make a significant difference.

Volunteering opportunities include assisting with inpatient activities providing companionship, and supporting wards during catering times throughout the day. Additionally, volunteer drivers are needed to aid in transporting patients to and from medical appointments to offer a friendly face and a comforting presence during what can often be a challenging time for elderly or disadvantaged people.

By joining the HSCP volunteer team, you will not only improve the lives of patients but also gain valuable experience, meet new people, and become an integral part of a caring community. Comprehensive training and support will be provided to ensure you feel confident and prepared in your role.

Roles fall under the following categories:

Ward volunteers - volunteers get to roll their sleeves up during mealtime to help serve hungry patients. Energetic volunteers can also help with teas and coffees - a great opportunity to be part of the ward team during a busy, challenging part of the long day.


Wayfinding volunteers - accompanying patients to their appointments in our busy outpatients department, ensuring they arrive on time and in good spirits – an excellent way to get your steps in and be the first point of contact for grateful patients.


Volunteer drivers - providing an invaluable service for those patients who can’t access an appropriate mode of transport – a satisfying way to support your local community and its elderly and disadvantaged residents.
