Ward 6A at Raigmore Hospital was delighted to accept a donation for their meaningful activities room from the Ross County Foundation.
The ward, which looks after our longer-term elderly patients, has a designated area for meaningful activities such as knitting, drawing, painting or watching movies to encourage patient interaction.
Kerry Law, Senior Charge Nurse for the ward, said: “Having a meaningful activities area has improved the interaction between patients and families have also commented on positive it is to see their loved one engage with other patients while taking part in these activities, and we’ve even had some family members join in too which has been great to see.
“We are very grateful to the Ross County Foundation for this donation. We have seen the difference having this area can make to our patients so the donation is very much appreciated.”
Alan Heath, Head of the Ross County Foundation, said: “As a Foundation, we were contacted by the team on Ward 6A who told us a little bit about the ward and what they do. They asked if we would be able to donate items for the Meaningful Activities room which helps the patients have a more enjoyable experience. We have gathered together a range of activities that we feel the patients will love and will make great use of.
“Thank you to everyone who donated to the Foundation, and thank you to the team in Ward 6A for giving us the opportunity to support these patients. It was great to be able to come into the ward and hand them over in person to the staff.”
