The latest Sir Lewis Ritchie Delivery Group for north Skye was held this week with leaders and clinicians from NHS Highland, Highland Council, SAS and local stakeholders in attendance.
The group discussed the continued steps being taken to implement the recommendations from the Sir Lewis Ritchie report and looked at the structure for continued implementation as well as forward planning.
Louise Bussell, NHS Highland’s Board Nurse Director and Senior Responsible Officer for the Skye, Lochalsh and South West Ross redesign, said: “It was another constructive meeting with the delivery group and we addressed a number of important issues, including how we can build on the partnership working we have established.
“We greatly value the input from the local communities in north Skye who have been a driving force behind the delivery group and the implementation of the recommendations outlined in Sir Lewis Ritchie’s report. We were pleased to sign off some key actions that are now concluded, particularly in relation to Raasay, Glenelg and Lochcarron.
“We are looking forward to exploring further opportunities to address issues affecting communities across Skye, Lochalsh and South West Ross following the consultation on our strategic plan and how we implement it across the district.
“We look forward to working closely with communities across the area to further develop local health and social care services in some of our most remote and rural locations. However, we are conscious of the work that we need to complete to ensure that all recommendations outlined by Sir Lewis Ritchie are delivered.
“We have identified a new governance structure to achieve these actions that will ensure this work remains a priority, and this will be shared at the next Sir Lewis Ritchie Steering Group meeting.”
