To celebrate Carers Week, NHS Highland and partner organisations are hosting a special event for unpaid carers in the community.
NHS Highland has partnered with a number of organisations to host a special event for unpaid carers on Thursday 15 June (note: the date was previously Thursday 8 June but has been changed) at Inshes Church, Inverness.
The event gives those in the community who have unpaid carer responsibilities a chance to chat with and hear from NHS Highland Carer Support Services as well as many other support organisations such as Connecting Carers, Carr Gomm, and Befrienders Highland. There will also be the opportunity to network with other carers in the community.

Jennifer Campbell, Carer Services Development Officer at NHS Highland, said: “Lots of people don’t even realise they are carers or what support is available, so we want to welcome them to this event. Our aim is to let people know how they can be supported in their role as unpaid carers.
“A carer is anyone who provides unpaid care or support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition, addiction, or who needs extra help as they grow older. If this is you, come along to the event, have a bite to eat and see how we might be able to help you.”
The event comes as part of NHS Highland’s celebration of Carers Week (5 to 11 June 2023), an annual campaign raising awareness of caring and highlighting the challenges unpaid carers face.
Becs Barker, Operations Manager at Carr Gomm, said: “As well as providing guidance and information, this event gives people the opportunity to meet other carers. It can mean so much for somebody just to hear the words ‘I know what you mean!’”.
