Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership's (HSCP) new and improved Interactive Voice Response (IVR) telephone system (A&B Connect) is now being installed at Islay Hospital.
The IVR was successfully launched in Campbeltown Hospital in January this year, and is set to be installed in Islay Hospital on the 6 March 2023 with a view to rolling out across all Argyll and Bute Hospitals by August 2023.
The upgraded innovative model of telephony software was initially identified as a solution with advanced functionality to improve callers experience and reduce telephone contract service costs. The IVR system is an automated Call Management System that allows incoming callers to access services via a touch-tone keypad selection of pre-recorded messages.
The telephony system will quickly and seamlessly address people’s inquiries and reduce hold times. Staff will benefit from having more productive hours to complete their daily tasks and guarantee hospital visitors entering and exiting the hospital will be managed more effectively.
Emma King-Venables, Interim Area Manager for Kintyre and Islay said: “I am really pleased that Islay Hospital patients and staff will shortly benefit from the advanced system to improve existing call handling and staff efficiency. We are continuing to receive excellent positive feedback from Kintyre community members and staff with the advanced telephone system in place at Campbeltown Hospital.”
Over the next few weeks, preparation work is taking place to ensure the transition to the new system goes smoothly. The telephone number for Islay Hospital remains the same: phone 01496 301000
