The first in a fresh series of drop-in events aimed at helping put people around Caithness in touch with local community-led support and advice services will be held in Keiss next week.
Almost 30 local organisations are involved in the initiative, which will also see “pop-up hubs” highlighting their work held in Thurso, Castletown and Wick during the year.
They will give people the opportunity to find out in an informal setting about the range of support and advice services available locally from voluntary groups, as well as NHS Highland and The Highland Council.
Next week’s event will take place at Keiss Hall, from 10am-2pm, on Wednesday March 22.
Lesley Martin, Community Service Improvement Practitioner with NHS Highland, said: “There are a lot of excellent groups providing a wide range of support and advice services across Caithness.
“The idea of these pop-up hubs is to offer people the opportunity to come along, have a chat and find out more about what services are available.
“We were able to run a number of similar events last year, after the relaxation of the Covid restrictions made it possible. We found it a very good way of raising awareness of the area’s community-led groups and what they offer and meeting people who might not otherwise have been aware of them.
“We are very pleased that so many organisations are supporting the events we are holding this year.”
The pop-up hubs, all of which run from 10am-2pm, will be held at:
- Wick British Legion, on Thursday June 1
- Castletown Drill Hall, on Wednesday August 23
- Caithness House, Wick, on Wednesday October 25
