Huge thanks to Lynne Clark who has raised £1900 for the MacMillan Unit at Raigmore Hospital.
Lynne, from Inverness, wanted to raise money for the unit after the care given to a family member following a cancer diagnosis.
She had previously raised £1000 as part of MacMillan coffee mornings but wanted to do something specifically for the unit at Raigmore so decided to hold a ladies day in her garden.
With donations from local hairdressers, restaurants, bars, hotels, florists, jewellers and numerous other businesses Lynne was able to hold a ladies day, a raffle, an auction and other activities allowing her to raise the amazing sum of £1900.
Lynne Clark said: “I didn’t think I’d get more than the £1000 I raised at the first event so I’m delighted to have raised such an amount for the unit at Raigmore.
“I contacted them and have initially bought chairs for the unit and am in discussion about what we can help with using the rest of the money raised.
“They were so good to my loved one and to us as a family, I wanted to do something as a thank you. I’m so pleased I’ve been able to help and I’d really like to say thank you to everyone who made the ladies event the success that it was.”
Elizangela Robertson, Senior Charge Nurse with the MacMillan Centre, said: “We are so grateful to Lynne who has helped us tremendously during what has been, and continues to be, a difficult time for all. We really do appreciate the huge amount of effort and generosity that has gone into this to help us improve our department.
“We are so grateful to all those like Lynne who go above and beyond to help cancer services in the Highlands. It is very much appreciated.”
