An inspection report into an Ullapool care home has shown that it has maintained and improved on the high standards identified by previous reports.
Lochbroom House was given “very good” grades in three categories on which it was judged by the Care Inspectorate, which monitors standards in care services.
The inspectorate awarded Grade 5 marks – meaning “very good” – to the home in respect of the quality of care and support it offers as well as the quality of its leadership and support for resident’s wellbeing.
Anne Napier, care home manager at Lochbroom House, said: “The team at Lochbroom House were delighted to have their professionalism and hard work recognised by The Care Inspectorate, following their recent Inspection.
“It has been a challenging couple of years for all, but Lochbroom House has managed to improve its care standards, with a committed, stable staff team, whom receive excellent support from GP's, community nurses, The pharmacy, Social work services and the Ullapool Community.
“I would like to thank all the staff for their dedication to the care and support of residents and their families, you are very much appreciated.”
The inspectorate’s report follows an unannounced inspection which took place in September this year.
The report noted the improvement made in the planning of residents’ care and support, scoring a 5 in comparison to the score of 4 registered in the previous inspection in 2019.
The report highlighted that ‘care plans were thoughtfully written and reflected the person, their interests and life history’, while acknowledging plans had been developed to identify what was important to each individual in the home.
The report said the staff were friendly and approachable and welcomed visitors, the home had established good links with other healthcare professionals involved with the care and support of its residents, and it encouraged residents, relatives and carers to give their viewed and suggestions on the service provided, and took these into account to make improvements.
