NHS Highland Chair, Boyd Robertson, and Chief Executive, Pam Dudek, have issued the following statement.
"It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.
"On behalf of our staff and patients, we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family.
"We welcomed Her Majesty to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and Lorn and Islands Hospital in Oban where she officially opened both sites. A moment of pride for everyone who was involved on both occasions and we are sure many are remembering that today as we join the nation in mourning.
"Her Majesty set an example to us all in her lifetime of unstinting public service undertaken with dignity, humility and humanity. She embodied the values the health service aspires to and to which it is committed."
