NHS Highland’s new Interim Chair, Professor Boyd Robertson, took the opportunity to meet as many staff as possible during visits to Belford Hospital and Invernevis House Care Home last week.
As part of a consultative approach, Professor Robertson was especially keen to make himself known to all levels of staff at the Fort William Hospital and the Care Home during his first official visits on Wednesday 6th March 2019.
Accompanied by rural general hospital manager Anne Boyd-Mackay, Professor Robertson was given a whistle-stop tour of all the different departments at the Belford during a three-hour visit. Later in the day he toured Invernevis House Care Home with manager, Claire Cameron.
Professor Robertson said: “I am keen to familiarise myself with service provision across all areas of the Highlands and the visits to the Belford Hospital and Inverness House Care Home were the start of that process.
“I found the visits highly informative and enlightening and was very impressed by the commitment and professionalism of the members of staff I met. I look forward to visiting Broadford, Portree and Raigmore Hospitals this week.”
He continued: “I am fully committed to ensuring that the people of the Highlands have health care of the highest quality, and the new chief executive, Iain Stewart, and I will work tirelessly towards that goal.”
The former principal of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig UHI, the National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture, took over the reins as Interim Chair after the resignation of David Alston on Thursday 28th February 2019.
