Coronavirus (COVID-19) and flu vaccinations

On this page

It's strongly recommended you get vaccinated for flu and coronavirus. Both viruses can be serious - evidence shows that COVID-19 vaccine protection fades, and the flu virus changes over time.

Don't let your protection fade. It's important to keep up to date with your vaccines as your level of protection may have faded since your last dose. Getting another vaccine will top up your protection and help prevent you from getting seriously ill or dying.

Youll Be Contacted If Eligible For Winter Vaccine

Am I eligible?

Both COVID-19 and flu vaccinations will be offered to the following eligible groups in Scotland during winter 2024:

  • all adults aged 65 years and over
  • residents and staff in care homes for older adults
  • individuals aged 6 months and over who are in a clinical at-risk group, including those who are pregnant
  • frontline health and social care workers

See NHS inform flu vaccination information for those who will be offered the flu vaccine only.

Important: When will I be invited?

Please wait to be contacted about your vaccination - do not try to make an appointment until you’ve been invited by NHS Scotland.

You may receive your invitation at a different time than previous years. You should attend the appointment you’ve been given, or rearrange your appointment.

The postal invites will arrive in white envelopes with clear NHS Scotland branding. People with a digital preference will receive their vaccine appointment or prompt by text or email.

Important: The COVID-19 vaccine

Vaccination is still the best way of protecting yourself against severe COVID-19 illness. The vaccine can reduce your risk of developing serious COVID-19 and make your symptoms milder if you do get it.

Important: The flu vaccine

The flu vaccine gives you the best possible protection against flu viruses likely to be circulating during the winter season. The vaccine protects people around you who are more at risk of serious flu illness, like babies and young children, older people and people with health conditions.

Map of vaccination clinic locations

Accurate locations of winter 2024 vaccination clinics in the NHS Highland area.

A location on this map does not always represent a bookable clinic there. Clinics will end, can fill up or be cancelled at short notice. Use the booking portal to see bookable clinics, and use this map to find a clinic location if you need it.

Log in to the booking portal or contact the local Service Delivery Centre helpline to manage a clinic booking at one of these locations.

View the map in a separate browser tab.

Important: Online service for vaccination appointments

NHS Scotland offers an online booking portal to:

  • manage your upcoming flu and COVID-19 vaccination appointments
  • view your vaccination history
  • maintain your preferred contact details - if you select to receive correspondence about your COVID-19 and flu vaccines by email or SMS in future, then you'll no longer receive letters with this information

Daytime appointments only (usually between 9am and 4pm) - evening appointments are not available.

Appointments on small islands in Argyll and Bute should be booked directly with the local GP practice instead of using the portal.

Reschedule your vaccine appointment if you feel very unwell - for example if you have a fever, vomiting or diarrhoea. You should not attend an appointment if you think you might be infectious to others.

Login to the portal or register

Important: Help by phone or email

When leaving a message by phone or email, please include your name and address (including postcode). One of the team will get back to you as soon as possible. Leave one message only as this will help our team to get back to everyone quickly.
