Health Workers At Work

Unlock your potential

lock and keyhole graphicWork experience workshops, job shadowing and workplace visits can help young people learn about the world of work, raise aspirations and awareness of what is possible, confirm or reject career pathways, build networks and develop skills for the world of work.

Work awareness and experience programme

We have reviewed our approach to engaging with young people, and educating them about the range of roles, pathways and careers available within our workforce.

For secondary school pupils, we have introduced a tiered approach to raising awareness of the range of different careers and pathways into health and social care.

Our aim is to provide young people with tailored opportunities, to enable them to find out about different types of careers and understand how their skills, knowledge and ambitions align with these roles.

By adopting this approach our aim is to be able to engage with as many young people as possible, providing age-related experiences.

By attending events and having the chance to meet with individuals who work in different careers, as well as gaining 'hands-on' experience in a safe environment, you will be able to experience more careers than afforded by a few days shadowing in the workplace alone.

Our goal is to ensure that if you request a work placement you are doing this from a position of awareness, having already had the chance to find out about the career and day-to-day role of the person, and are in a more informed position to benefit from your placement.
